Sucralose is an artificial sweetener commonly known as splenda and is also widely used as a sugar substitute. It’s chemically changed so it’s 600 times sweeter than sugar with almost no calories. It is usually identified in ‘sugar free’ ‘lite’ ‘zero calorie’ and ‘sugarless’ consumable products.

Sucralose E955 is used in cold drinks, coffee beverages, energy drinks, chewing gums, candies, yogurts, diet sodas and toothpaste too. It can be found in reduced calorie or reduced sugar foods without compromising on the taste or even in some protein powders and diet bars as they are hard to consume if not added with a sweetener or flavour. In medicine it is used in pharmaceutical tablets, toothpastes and mouthwashes. It can also be substituted in baking as it is more heat stable than aspartame.
