What is shisha flavoring?
1. What is shisha flavoring?
Shisha flavoring is a flavoring mixture specifically formulated for smoking shisha (also known as shisha or hookah). Its core ingredients are:
Base: Typically glycerin and/or propylene glycol. These two substances are highly hygroscopic, producing high volumes of aerosol (formed by condensation of water vapor) and also serve as a carrier for the flavor.
Food-grade flavoring: Compounds that provide a variety of flavors, similar to those used in food and beverages, such as fruity flavors (apple, watermelon, mint), dessert flavors, and beverage flavors.
A small amount of nicotine (optional): Some shisha flavorings contain nicotine to meet user preferences, but nicotine-free versions are also available.
Honey or syrup: In some traditional or homemade recipes, it adds sweetness and viscosity.
Important: Shisha flavoring does not contain tobacco itself. It must be mixed with shisha tobacco (mu'assel). Hookah tobacco is soaked and seasoned. Hookah flavors are sometimes used to re-humidify or add flavor to old tobacco.
2. Common Flavors and Brands
Hookah flavors are incredibly diverse, with thousands of flavors available. The main categories include:
Fruit: Watermelon, apple, blueberry, peach, orange, grape (most common and popular)
Mint: Mint alone or blended with other fruits (such as minty watermelon)
Beverages: Coke, mojito, red wine
Desserts: Chocolate, vanilla, bubble gum, cream
Blends: Blending multiple flavors to create a unique experience.
Xi'an Taima is constantly developing shisha flavors, and some of our flavors have gained market acceptance, such as Al Mint, Al Double Apple, Al Bubble Gum, and some blends.
